More Jewelry That I Made

So I wasn't quite finished making jewelry the other day and I made a few more things. I changed my mind on my daughter's necklace and made her another one and some earrings and a bracelet to go with it. She loves those Hunger Games books and has been raving about the movie and she can't wait until it comes out so she can see it. So I made her necklace in a Hunger Games theme. With a Mocking jay (from the books) type bird. I hope she likes it. If she doesn't like the bird, I made it so that she could take it off and wear it as a broach instead. Take a Look

Then, I made a bracelet for a friend of mine for her Birthday. Her birthday was last month and I wasn't able to give her anything "crafty" that I actually made for her and I really wanted to make her something special.

A Sour Taste & Some more Jewelry I Made :)

I have had the unfortunate experience of having a so called friend criticize my work and say some pretty mean things. I really encourage constructive criticism and I invite it indeed. This wasn't constructive and she didn't say it to be helpful and it was very cruel. Some people bring people down in order to lift themselves up and we call those people Bully's. Those types of behaviors will not be permitted by me and I'm cutting that person out of my life for good. I think I'm better off without a "friend" like that anyway.

So.. to move on.. here are a few more necklaces that I made this week. I have been having a fun time making these for my family members and now that I can make a whole set, (necklace, earrings and bracelet) it's even more fun.

this is a necklace that I made for my 20 year old daughter. She wanted one with an anchor on it so I came up with this one. I hope she likes it.

this one was made for my 13 year old daughter, her birthday is right around the corner and I wanted to do something special for her. I made the pendant myself too :)

A Jewelry Set That I Made

Well I finally sat down and made my very first necklace and earrings and then I made a bracelet to go with them. I am very proud of them and had a great time putting these together. Would love to get your feedback :)

My Favorite Childhood Book

Dr. Seuss books were my favorite books to read when I was a kid, I had tons of them and I would read them over and over again. When I had my kids, my husband and I used to read them the books all the time. They are just fun books to read. I had to do a page based on my favorite Dr. Seuss book - Green Eggs and Ham. I bought the book at the thrift store for 1.00 so that I could tear it up and use it on my page so don't think i used my original copy. haha!!
I used a technique that my art journal teacher Karen showed me about gluing a page to the journal and then clear embossing stamped images on top of it and then painting. The embossing acts as a resist, it gives it a really cool effect.

Greeting Card Kits

So me and some friends of mine have been getting together monthly and doing some crafting and card making together. It's been a ton of fun. This month we decided that each of us would bring a card "kit" for each member and we would take those kits home and put together our version of a card with each kit. I have to say, this was a super idea and I am having a ton of fun with the kits. Here are two of the card that I came up with so far. I have two more kits to go.
Sadly, I didn't picture the kits before I made the card, next time I will do that.

this is card #1 - the kit included this really pretty metallic paper with adhesive backing, the brad, some cool ledger paper, metal embossing powder, a stamp, a cork and the glass slide. ( I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to implement the cork)

this card kit came with all this really cool vintage paper, the brad, the white flower, the keyhole, some Tim Holtz glassine paper and I think that was it.
I made the little white flower into a bobby pin for my daughter's hair, this might be her birthday card this year.

I love the way these both came out, very fun. I am loving this kit idea. :)

Newest Art Journaling Page

This month's lesson over at willowing.org was on collage painting and such. I'm not sure I'm thrilled with how my page turned out but that's ok. I spent most of the morning doing this page, so it is what it is. She is a bit wonky and her hand is too small and neck too long but hey, she is a work in progress and so I am.. haha!! This has been quite a new and creative journey for me. Anyway, hope you like what I came up with, I am posting a before and after of what the page looked like. It's really neat to see how it transformed after painting.

This is the before page, I had added a bunch of different papers and magazine pictures behind her and then used a magazine picture of a girl as a starting point.

This is the after - painted the girl, added words and butterflies and paint collaged the background as well.

Today my daughter and I went to an art journaling class with our fabulous teacher Karen Bearse!! The theme this month was on Claudine Hellmuth's Black Gesso by Ranger We had a great time playing with it, it's so smooth and creamy, I just love it.

Atcs I've been working on

I have been frantically working on ATCs this week. Here are a few that I've finished.

Blogger, please stop turning my pictures sideways!!! LOL

This one was for the Raven swap on ATC_FUN, I love the way it turned out.

The next project I've been working on is my recycled charm swap. These were made out of cardboard that had been painted and sprayed and also some paper towel that was spritzed with glimmer mists. They were so much fun to do. I added small beads and a brad.

Art Journaling Pages

I have been working on several fun things lately and one of them is my art journal. I'm really loving putting this journal together. I wanted to do a sort of calendar journal so I started one this past Jan. Here are a few of my pages so far....

Well Blogger decided to turn my pictures sideways again and I have no idea why but this pic is of my February page and it's sideways lol....

These are my March Pages, I haven't added the March on top yet, that comes next. My daughter's Birthday is on March 30th so I have done some flowers around that day. :)

Thank you Valerie!!

I want to take a moment and give some KUDOS to Valerie Brinchek for my new blog look. She did such an amazing job and it really expresses my love for Steampunk, THANK YOU VAL!!!
Val has a blog here:  The Sum of All Crafts and also an amazing etsy store here:  Necklaces ...

Kudos to you Val!!! Your amazing.

Grungy Monday 35

So I had to do some ATCs yesterday for a corrugated Valentine swap and I thought I would incorporate the Grungy Monday challenge of the week along with this one. Linda over at Studio L3 has challenged us to do a Tim inspired ATC!! It's right up my alley.

I used Tim's distress stains to stain the cardboard first and then tore some of it to expose the inside of the corrugated cardboard. Then I cut the butterfly out of one of Tim's movers and shaper dies and also used the cardboard for that as well. I sprayed that with the Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists. I drug a paintbrush across the top with white paint and then used a template of Tim's heart die cut to paint the heart. The "Love" stamp was from Michael's dollar bin. I used some really thin wire to make the butterfly's antenna. I topped it all of with Ranger's Perfect Pearl spray.

ATC's That I Have Been Working On

While we are all waiting for my blog give-a-way I have been working on some ATCs for a swap on the Ink Stains With Roni Blog - The theme for this one is "general", so I can basically do what I want on them. Boy did I run with that. haha!! I went with a sort of Wendy Vecchi theme, I love her stamps. I also used Tim Holtz Distress stains on these and made a background for the first ATC, the stamp is from Hero Arts and the I just used the stains to dot each spot. I stamped the flowers and then embossed them and colored them with distress stains. On the 2nd one, I used sticky back canvas, by Claudine Hellmuth, to stamp the flower and then adhered it to a piece of grunge paper and then cut it out. I again, used the distress stains to color the flower and stamped again for the words on the petals. The background it just some layered stamps and the "Art" word is from a Wendy Vecchi set and I stamped it on Tim Holtz Cordinations grunge paper.  Hope you like them.
