Rolodex Swap: Theme Patriotic

For this swap I went the vintage route. For one, I love the vintage look and for two I just love patriotic and vintage together. July's theme for my Rolodex swap on the All Things Tim group is Patriotic and I need to finish all these prior to going on vacation otherwise I fear I may not get them totally done.
I used lots of Tim's Distress Ink Pads and some distress stain. The red background is Fired Brick distress stain, dried and run through a Sizzix embossing folder. I wiped the embossing folder with Faded Jeans prior to running it through so that it would give it the blue colored stars. So cool!!
I made the flag with Tim's mini Old Glory movers and shapers and glossy paper and used Fadded Jeans and Fired Brick distress stain over the top.
I also used Vintage Photo distress stain on the endges of the card, photos and also the flag to distress it a little more.
I made the star charm out of metal tape and again Tim's mini Old Glory die set. Punched a hole in the middle added a brad and a loop.
This one was fun to do and I love the outcome. I am entering this one in the Simon Says Stamp and Show blog contest.. this week is show some brown. Since my edges are done in the brown and vintagy (a word I made up), I think it qualifies.

Patriotic Tag Swap

Yes, I know, I'm in another swap!! haha! I just love swapping with others in my yahoo groups, I love seeing what creativeness everyone is up to.
At any rate, this tag was for a patriotic tag swap on my AllThingsTim yahoo group. I'm excited to see what I get in return.
I don't know if you can tell but the Eagle has distress stickles on the wings and the USA is made out of metal sheets and I used alcohol inks to color it red and silver. I also ran it through the Big Shot in an embossing folder so it would have lines across each letter. You can't tell in the pic but the letters are shiny. I love it! I created the flag with distress inks and white embossing powder (for the stars)

A Card and A Postcard

Just wanted to share a few things I have been working on today and the other day. I am vacationing to California this summer for my Father In Law's 80th Birthday and I wanted to make him a card for that. I got some inspiration from The Frugal Crafter Blog
I really liked the design of the card that she had done, so I went with that idea. I wanted it to look vintage and masculine. I didn't have the steampunk stamp that she used in her background so I used a different Stamp for mine. I added some clear plastic numbers cut out of Tim's Word Play Die that I got for Mother's Day. I love this die, it's so cool. Anyway, I cut out the plastic and then added some alcohol inks to it so it would match. I also added one of Tim's mini gears and some screw brads.

I have also been in quite a few fabric postcard swaps lately and I'm really new at this type of thing so mine are really simple. Fabrics are tough for me. I joined a silhouette fabric PC swap and decided to use the Tim Holtz rainman die to cut out my figure in black fabric, I added it to this really bright and cool fabric and used Adirondack black ink pad to stamp the wording. I love the way it came out. I finished the edging with black thread.

Rolodex Swap - Birds

This month I am hosting a swap on my All Things Tim Yahoo group again for rolodex cards. I decided that this months theme would be Birds. I love birds and it's just the right time of year when they all start chirping and hanging out at the bird bath. For this month, I decided to use one of my favorite stamps, it's a big eyed owl by Hero Arts. I just love it and haven't had a chance to use it so I decided this was the time. It's not a Tim stamp but everything else on the card is made from Tim items, so I figured it would be ok to use one stamp that wasn't :)
I created this lovely by stamping the owl onto card stock with archival black and coloring it in using a combo of distress stain (fired brick) and distress ink pad (barn door)
I also used my distress marker on the leaves and blended them with the blender tool. I added gems to the owls eyes.
I colored the background with distress stains and stamped a Tim Holtz music sheet to layer it a little. I then dotted that with a few other colors of stains to the right hand side of my card. For the flower I used a big punch to cut the Glassine backing flower, for the other flower I used Tim's tattered floral strip die. I cut it out of cardstock and then used distress stain in mustard seed to stain it yellow.
For the ribbon, I used Pine Needles distress stain to make it a green color and added the chotski pin and feather charm. The word "Peace" is from Tim's Chit-Chat sticker pack.

I am also entering this project in the Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge this week. The challenge was anything goes, so you could enter any project. I really like these challenges they definitely keep me and my art moving and Simon Says Stamp is so generous with their 50.00 prize to one lucky winner.

Compendium of Curiosities 2, Challenge 9

This week’s Compendium of Curiosities 2 Challenge at Linda's Studio L3 involves the use of Tim’s pocket watch and the technique he outlines on page 35 of his CofC2 book. This week’s challenge is also sponsored by the great  Simon Says Stamp love those guys over there!! They are giving away a 25.00 gift certificate to one lucky participant. Maybe I will get lucky and this will be my week!  At any rate, I have always wanted to alter a pocket watch and have actually had one of Tim's from Idea-ology for awhile now and just haven't altered it yet. So I am using this opportunity to go for it!! I got some inspiration for the insides of a real watch and figured I'd put some gears in this one and since I love hummingbirds, I added this little charm that I had laying around as well. I love the way it turned out. Thanks Linda for making me get the pocket watch out and do something with it. :)

Father's Day Cards

Man, have I been busy or what? Today's projects were Father's Day cards and a card for my yahoo group All Things Tim June Challenge (which was travel)
I used lots of Tim goodness on these and tried to make them as "masculine" as possible. I printed out a picture of my daughter and my husband for his Father's Day card. He is also in the Air Force so I added some blue petals to the flowers and a dog tag to the actual tag. The other two cards are for My Father and my husbands Father.
Hope you like them and they give you inspiration to make one for that special guy in your life. :)

The following is the card I did for the All Things Tim Yahoo group. It's the same card as the above Father's Day card but with a different sentiment.

ATC Project

I worked on an ATC swap yesterday, the theme was Time. Which is one of my favorite themes. I put together these beauties for that swap.

Making Art Challenge - Wendy Vecchi Style

My Wendy Vecchi Yahoo group has these challenges each week and this week's challenge is to make something with two hearts and three circles. I decided to finish an Art Journal page that was sitting in my craft room for about a month or more. I started the page when some friends of mine came over and we played with gellatos. It was a ton of fun but I never finished the page after I created the background. So I figured that this Wendy V. challenge was a great opportunity to add something on top of this amazingly bright background. I'm SO into bright colors right now.
Everything that I added was done with Wendy stamps and sayings. I also used my Tim Holtz Distress markers on some of it and also my watercolor pencils. I also added a Tim Holtz crown with grungeboard and painted it gold and white. I drew the white swirls with my white acrylic paint. This was all done on burlap.
