A Birthday Card for Tim

Well everyone who knows me know that I just love Tim Holtz and all of his inspiration and great products and I use them in almost everything that I make. Well this month over at Studio L3 Linda has been going through Tim's Book "Compendium of Curiosities II" and this is the Finale month for those challenges. It's all about making a Birthday Card for Tim and we can use any of the techniques from Tim's book I or book II for this one. I didn't think I'd be able to finish one in time but I went to my craft room and didn't come out until it was done. I also made some really cool ATC's for a swap in my AllThingsTim Yahoo group swap too. They both have sort of the same theme. So two projects done!! Yay!!

For this background I used Tim's Technique called Dabber Resist and it's found in Book I page 37. 
This is a picture of the backgrounds of the ATCs

 I also used alcohol inks and created a background with some plastic packaging. I used the packaging to cut out some wings from Tim's movers and shapers butterfly.

The final outcome came out great I think. Here is a picture of the card and my ATCs. Also, for the card I used one of Ranger's Giant Manilla Tags, I love these, they are the perfect size for folding in half and making a card.

So this card will be entered into the Studio L3 challenge this week and Linda is giving away a monogramed apron which she is getting signed by Tim and Mario and also some extra goodies to boot! She is so generous!!! Thanks Linda!!

Sharing a Journal Page or Two.....

Whew... what a whirlwind of December!! Everything went back to normal today, with the Husband going back to work and my daughter back to school and me back in my art room. YAY!
I have created two art journal pages and had in the back of mind some Challenges that I wanted to submit them into. 

For the first page I used a tutorial I found on Pinterest, I didn't follow it to a -T- because that is just so unlike me but I did use some of the techniques that she used and the over all idea was the same. I had some issues with the spray trying to come off but overall I think that page come out ok.
For this page, I am submitting it into the following Challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Challenge - New Something Challenge (my star stencils are brand new and I couldn't wait to break them out and use them here)

The Next Journal page was from a tutorial on the Ranger site with Dyan Reaveley. She is so great and I just love her backgrounds so I decided to give it a go on this one. I just love how this background came out so bold and bright.

A Daughter's Gift Box

I've been trying to complete several projects before Christmas and, alas, I don't think I'm going to get them all done. I did happen to finish this little gift box the other day. This one is for a special gift that my wonderful husband got for my daughter while I was away. He is so great! Anyway, he wanted me to make a special gift box for her and since I'm in a bit of a rush, I quickly put one together with Tim's Poinsettia die and some other riff raff. I really am loving how it turned out. I'm amazed at how a little decoration can go a long way. 
I'm also entering this little project into Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge this week, the theme is Gift-spiration! They are also giving away a 50.00 gift card to one lucky random winner. YAY!! Love SSS. 
I did not add what goes inside this little box because I think my daughter sometimes visits my blog and don't want to spoil the surprise. :)

A Few Fast Christmas Cards

Hello Crafty Friends, 
 I'm back from my family emergency. Those of you who know me, know that my father had a massive stroke about three weeks ago and he is now in a physical therapy center. It's been tough but he is on the road to recovery and getting back to where he was. It's going to be a long road for my Dad and entire family. I trust in the Lord to take him along this process and see him through.
I've been back home for about a week now and I had so many things that I needed to catch up on (home wise and crafty wise) I sat down in my craft room for the first time since my Dad's stroke and made a few quick Christmas cards. I really needed it too, I missed crafting and using my imagination. 
These two cards were quick but I think they turned out fun and festive and I hope the recipients enjoy them. I'm also entering these into the new challenge from Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog The challenge this week is Christmas!! Anything Christmas goes. Hello blog friends, I wanted to write a post and let you all know that I won't be updating my blog for a week or more. There has been an emergency in my family and I am having to help with that so I won't be creating or updating the blog for a bit. Please hang in there with me until I can post again.

Monster Reindeer Ornament

I have a little story for you, my nephew was drinking this Monstertm Energy drink when i was visiting the family in Colorado this past summer and I'm always looking for stuff to craft with so I grabbed the top from him because I thought it would be perfect to make something out of it. Well, it's been sitting in my craft room since June and the other day he asked me about it. I had forgotten all about it, so I got it out and brainstormed and made him an ornament for his tree. He has a new home this year and it will be a great gift for him for his first home and Christmas tree of his own.
I went with an idea from Shelly Hickox's blog. She did this really cool tutorial of a 3D reindeer tag. I thought this would be perfect for this little bottle cap. 

First I sanded it a little so that the glue and tissue would stick well. I used modge podge to adhere Tim's tissue wrap to the outside and inside and then went over that with Faded Jeans Distress Ink. Once that was all dry I sprayed the entire thing with Perfect Pearl Spray in silver to add some shimmer and I let that dry. I used Shelly's technique for creating the reindeer and added some holiday project paper to it with glue and seal. I used a Dollar Store mini wreath, cut the red bow off of it and created a bow in the color that I wanted and glued it on. A friend of mine Anita Houston inspired me to use real acorn tops and some pearls for the acorn. (you should have seen me out in my back yard gathering up all kinds of little acorn tops LOL.) Everything came together nicely I think. I hope my nephew likes his ornament. I just love it and I want to keep it. haha!!
