My Tim Holtz Day

Well, I have taken the plunge and created my very first Tim Holtz inspired Tag today. I brought the laptop into my computer room with me and watched a few "how to" vids from Tim's website and by golly I DID IT!!! haha!!
I have wanted to do some "Tim" projects for awhile now but with limited resources it's been tough so I got a few die cuts from a friend and bought 4 distress stains and some grunge paper from Michael's and low and behold, I made a cool tag. I found out that you can actually do a lot with limited items. I cut my own tag from an old file folder and used the distress stains on it. I love the way it came out all grungy (is that a word?) and stuff. The file folder was sort of a coffee color when it started, not the manilla like most tags start out as, so it came out darker and I really like it. I used the grunge paper and stamped a Christmas holly stamp on it with some distress stain and then I used the stain on my craft mat like paint and painted the image with it. So basically everything was made grungish with the stains. Pretty cool.  Maybe tomorrow I will do another one. hehe!!
I really need to get some more Tim Holtz items for my next tag. lol

Art Journaling

So my daughter and I went to an art journaling class last night and we had SO much fun. We worked with Faber Castel Gelatos and they are a ton of fun. So many possibilities, we created a work on canvas and a tag and on one sheet of journal paper. The teacher is going to bind everything when we have enough pages to make a journal, it's going to be really cool.  Here are a few things that we did last night, I didn't finish my journal page that we worked on so I will show that later. Then, at the bottom of this post I'm sharing the journal that I've already started myself at home.

This is my canvas, I'm going to add a button in the middle of the flower. This was all done with gelatos

This is my daughters tag that she did

The next few pics are of the journal that I am working on at home. This is the cover.

What I'm working on today

Stayed home for a little bit today. I'm not feeling quite right today, I think I'm fighting off something. Anyway, I worked on a few ATCs and the toilet paper journal today. Here is what I came up with on both.

These are the ATCs I worked on

This is the toilet paper journal page that I finished. Now I need to make a matching Tag to go inside.

It's Done!! YAY!

I worked on this quilt all day yesterday and it's finally all finished. I'm so excited that I've finished my first ever quilt. I did have a mishap, when it was time to sew the top, bottom and batting together I sandwhiched it wrong and had it all sewn and had to take it all apart. Took me about two hours to take it apart ugg! God taught me a lesson in patience with that one. After it was taken apart, I re-sandwhiched it and sewed it again. Luckily it came together fine and turned out great. I didn't quilt all over it I just tacked each square, I used orange thread and tacked the square with two little hearts each. The top 6 squares each have Leanne's name in them. So the top squares spell out Leanne and the rest of the squares have hearts. I have to say that I've been wanting to learn to do quilting for a long time and I'm so happy that I decided to dive into it. It's so fun and I am hooked.
This is the back side of each square with the hearts.

My Daughter's Quilt

With a lot of help from my mother in law, Leanne's quilt is coming along quite nicely. The blocks are stitched together and the top and bottom borders are on. I'm guessing all I have to do now is the batting and back and quilting. YAY!! I'm so excited.!! Off to call my MIL and find out what I do next. haha!!! I took this picture standing on my couch so it's kind of lopsided. lol

The Quilt

So, I have been working on this quilt for Leanne. The fabric that I chose for the "sample" block we weren't able to find some of it at JoAnn's so Leanne picked out some other fabrics. Here is what it looks like so far. I still have to sew them together and do the edges and batting and back but this is it so far.
