Butterfly Birthday Card

Tomorrow is my husbands birthday and I always make a card for him. So for this year I wanted to use this new swallowtail stamp I got from Stampin' Up. I love, love, love this stamp and my husband and I are both huge butterfly fans. I knew that he would really appreciate me using this stamp. I started by stamping the butterfly on manilla cardstock with distress embossing ink and used Ranger's black embossing powder.
I then used three different colors of distress inks to color the butterfly wings. I used perfect pearls to go over the distress inks and spritzed with a  little water once the perfect pearls were on.

I really love the way it makes the butterflies wings shimmery. I also love how vibrant the distress ink colors turned out. So pretty!
Once that was done I put together my card and cut out the butterfly and adhered it to the card. I wanted the rest of the card to be simple because I really wanted the butterfly to stand out. I used a copper color ribbon to give the card a bit more of a masculine feel.

I am entering this card into the Simon Says Challenge Blog challenge for this week. The theme is "Anything Goes". They are giving away a 50.00 gift voucher to one lucky winner. Make sure to stop by and check out all the wonderful creations.
I hope that you enjoyed the small tutorial and card. Thanks for stopping by.
