Father's Day Pocket Watch

This weekend is Father's Day and I always make my husband some kind of fun card or craft on these special days. He is always so supportive of my crafting and so I love making things for him.
This year I had a class over at the craft store that I teach at and I decided to do something in the theme of "Father's Day". I know how so many people struggle to do "masculine" projects so I did a mini class.
I made a pocket watch out of Tim Holtz Pocket watch die and added embossing powder in several different colors around the edges, I also used several other Tim Holtz dies on this project

Here are a few more photos

I am entering this project into a few challenges
The Frilly and Funky challenge - "For All Our Father's"
The Hobby Cutz Challenge 51 - Father's Day/Masculine

Thanks for coming by and have a super day!!

Boxes - Stampotique Challenge SDC 151

Hello all, thanks for coming by. I've been super busy with summer and my daughter out of school that I've neglected my Blog. I hope to get back to posting more often soon.

This week over at the Stampotique Designer's Blog the new challenge was chosen by our wonderfully talented Arwen McCullen and she has chosen the theme "Boxes"

I love this challenge and what better way to make a box than by using Eileen Hull's Artist Trading Block Dies

I used the smallest size for my project, it's the 1 1/2" x 1 1/2"
This one was the perfect size for the Stampotique Stamp I used

This is also my Wednesday to post over at Stampotique Designer's Blog so make sure to check that out, I always love comments too :)

For this project I used the Stampotique Stamps

Scooter Girl - Roc Nicholas
Cross Hatch Swirl - Maryse Carrier
Blocks - Maryse Carrier
Tall Word Collage - Amy Wilson-Wellenstein
Great Moon - Jo Capper-Sandon (only used the star from this stamp)
Carol's Flower Small - Janet Klein
Daniel's Hearts - Daniel Torrente

Whew... that's a lot of stamps that I got to use on this one small project but it was so fun to put together, I love how it turned out. It looks like the scooter girl is pulling the little Artist Trading Block Cart!!
The little purple bead with dots was used as the "pulley" was sent to me by my friend Terri Richardson, she sends me things now and again that I can use in my creations. I love her, she's so supportive!!

Thanks for coming by once again, enjoy your week!!
CHEERS!!

Celebrate Stampotique's 150th Challenge

Hello all and thanks for coming by the blog. This week Stampotique is celebrating their 150th challenge and we are so happy and excited to have made it to 150!!
The theme this week over at Stampotique's Designers Challenge is "CELEBRATE"

We are excited at Stampotique that our fans have helped us grow so much and that our stamps, challenges and Facebook page have become such a big hit. In honor of our excitement, and our 150th challenge, our theme is CELEBRATION. We want you to create with celebration in mind, whether it's celebrating a birthday, anniversary, wedding, graduation or new baby...let's celebrate!

Not to put a damper on our celebration, but our team is bidding a few of our members farewell. Maria Sabina-Raita has been with the team and has shown us how talented she is not only as an artist but as a stamp designer. Tanja Kewel-Neef has only been with us a short while but we have enjoyed seeing her creations each week. We celebrate the opportunity we had to have them on our design team and wish them the best.

We will NOT be having a new call for designers as our current designers will all be remaining for another term. We are happy to say we are looking for 4 new guest designers and so along with this fun challenge, we will pick some of our guest designers from those who are participating in our 150th challenge. Along with the chance to be a guest designer, we'll also be picking a random winner for a $30 gift certificate for Stampotique stamps.

Can't wait to see how you celebrate this week!

Here is a sneak peak of my creation for this week, hop on over to the Designer's Blog to see the full creation

Artist Trading Block Birdhouse

Hello all and thanks for coming by the blog today. The weather here in Colorado has been so nice lately and I've been watching the birds outside the window dancing around and playing. I just love birds and It gave me the thought to try and create a bird house out of Eileen Hull's Artist Trading Block Die

I'm going to enter this one into the Eileen Hull - Art With Heart Challenge
This months challenge is "May Flowers" and I added some loose flowers to my birdhouse that I had leftover from another project.

I started out by creating my background with Wendy Vecchi Crackle Texture Paste and a Crafter's Workshop Brick Stencil. I set that aside to dry for awhile and once dry I used Tim Holtz Distress Paint to color my brick
The two colors I used were Vintage Photo (painted first) and Aged Mahogany, I love the way the crackle paste makes the brick look aged

I cut a circle in the middle of my front piece from the Artist Trading Block to act as my entrance for my birdhouse

I used a beautiful piece of Kiesercraft card stock and cut out my bird from the print and since I needed my bird to be sturdy I pasted it onto a piece of black card stock and then cut it out (my butterflies are from Graphic45 paper)

Once assembled I used a piece of burlap and cut it into pieces to create my nest inside the ATB

I used various flowers that were leftover from other projects and pieces of torn paper around each side of my block and for the roof, I used some cardboard which I also painted with Distress Paint

You know what is really funny? With this project I didn't use a single stamp! I think this is a first for me!!
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have enjoyed my birdhouse project using the Altered Trading Block Die

If you feel so inclined make sure to check out Eileen's
Art With Heart Challenge, you could win a wonderful Sizzix Prize pack!!
