One Last Christmas Display

Hello all and welcome back to the blog today. I have one more Christmas display to show you prior to Christmas. Cutting it close on this one haha!
I have recently gotten my hands on the new Tim Holtz Paper Mosaic Kit from my work Simple Pleasures and I couldn't wait to break it open and play with it.
Ever since I saw Tim's video on youtube with this kit, I've been wanting to check it out

To begin this project I took a piece out of Tim's configuration book, I'm going to create a scene inside this.

I started out by using the Distress grout onto the entire backside of the box, I used a pallet knife to spread my grout. I probably should have made it a bit smoother but since this was my first time, it was a learning process
(for some reason my photo wouldn't stay upright for this post, sorry about that.)

I sat that aside to dry thoroughly

While that was drying I started with some things for the scene I was going to create.
I used Tim's Trophy Antlers and applied some multi matte medium all over them and sprinkled glitter onto them
Also, setting that aside to dry

I then cut a piece of Tim's older Christmas paper and used distress ink to the edges and top. I used the paper distress tool to distress my edges as well

I wanted to add a poinsettia to this so I created a small one using Tim's movers and shapers poinsettia die. I simply cut these out with red and green paper that i previously stamped music onto, I then used distress ink on the edges

I wanted to use glitter and prills for the center and I applied these with glossy accents glue

I love how the center looks so real with the prills and glitter

Once my "grout" was completely dry, I began by placing some of my mosaic pieces here and there onto the back of my box.
(I previously cut the pieces out using Tim's Christmas paper)

Once I figured out how I wanted my pieces to lay out, I started gluing them down with the paper mosaic glue
when they were all placed and glue down I applied one more coat of glue to the entire back

I set this aside to dry

When all of the glue had dried completely I went ahead and applied my paper mosaic glaze over each mosaic tile. Again, I set this aside to dry

I forgot to mention that prior to applying my mosaic pieces I used distress ink to go over the entire background of my box
It's really kind of cool how the distress ink blends into the background as your applying your glue and mosaic pieces

I used one of Tim's script thinlet word dies to create my "joyful" word and I also used one of his woodland tree miniatures (sprayed with distress spray)
For the silver tinsel around the edge, I simply hot glued that

This is how the back and sides turned out, I love it!

Thanks so much for coming by and checking out this fin and festive display. I hope you and yours have a Blessed Christmas!!

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2014 MAY

Hello everyone, thanks for coming by the blog once again. Today I would like to share with you my creations for this months 12 Tags of 2014 by Mr. Tim Holtz

If you have time make sure to go by his blog here - Tim Holtz and check out the tag for this month. You may even get some inspiration to try out your own tag

If your like me, you cherish all those little trickiest that you buy and sometimes you don't even use them because they are too cute to use LOL... aren't we, as crafters, funny that way?

I know that I have a complete stock of many, many, many trinkets that I just love and Tim has really pressed us to use some of those items with this months tag and I'm so glad he did because that's what they are for, right? To be used on your creations!
Once again, I am making postcards and I always make two, one for me and one to give away.
To begin, Tim had asked us to use distress paint, stains or inks to color our background and I decided to use several different colors of distress inks
I did one in the blue tones and one in the orange/brown tones

Here are photos of my backgrounds before I added all the trinkets, I chose to use two different shadow press words for each and misc pieces of Tim's paper

For the first postcard I chose to use the butterfly and Industrious Frame Sticker just like Tim did but I added a word band to the bottom. I then used an arrow created like the butterfly, with paper and cardboard and the new Tim Holtz artful arrows bigs die

Since you couldn't really see the words on the word band, I used picket fence distress paint and painted it white and then wiped it down so the white would "settle" into the words
I also used a new Tim Holtz Idea-ology item called Monocles
I used a piece of Tim's paper (the bird) and glossy accents to add the photo to the back of the monocle

For my next postcard I used the honeycomb frameworks die to create my block in the upper middle here, I wanted my framework piece to be the same depth as the rest of my block pieces (each one is paper on top of cardboard) so I used a piece of paper without the cardboard underneath and added grungeboard under the frameworks paper, this way it ended up the same height as everything else. - the small bee is the only thing that I used that is not Tim Holtz's product, it is from Vintaj

Here are the postcards together

I love the way these turned out and I'm so glad that I got to get some of those ideology pieces out and use them

Thanks for coming by and have a wonderful day.

Going Green - Stampotique Designer's Challenge

Hello all and Happy Wednesday to you. As you know today is my day to post over at the Stampotique Designer's Blog and for today's creation I have created two cards.

Our wonderful guest designer Kristen Catalano has challenged us to "Use Green as Our Primary Color"

Be sure to hop on over to the Stampotique Designer's Challenge blog and check out all the wonderful inspiration from the design team.

I have used Stampotique Stamp

Stella - by artist Jo Capper-Sandon

Stella is awesome and I just love the way she looks so serene just sitting there
Unfortunately I didn't take many photos of how this project came together but I did use a technique by
Wendy Vecchi who demonstrated this technique at CHA 2014.
I don't have any of the re-inkers so I just simply spread two colors onto my craft sheet directly from the ink pad itself.
I think my backgrounds came out similar
Her technique creates such a beautiful subtle background, I just love it.

For the letters I simply used chipboard and painted them green and then added a bit of glossy accents onto the top to make them shine.

I think the rest is pretty simple, just some tule and flowers

I wanted each card to be a tad different so I added different words.

Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by

Tissue Paper Ornament

Good morning to you. Today I am making another ornament. I also wanted to take part in the challenge over at:
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Their challenge this week is tissue paper.

I decided to do this ornament with Tim Holtz tissue paper and a fragment piece.
I used two layers of the tissue paper and stamped on it with the stamps I chose using archival ink.

I drew a pencil line around the area where the I needed to stamp, this was my guide.
I used archival ink to make a colored edge.

I then used glossy accents to adhere my fragment to my tissue piece.

After it was completely dry I cut around the edges.
I added some metal wire and just wrapped it around here and there and made a hanger and jus tike that my ornament is done!
This is simple and quick and has a wonderful result.

Thanks again for stopping by the blog. Have a great day!!

OPPS!

Hey-yo! Everyone. So for today's project, I'm a dork and forgot to take photos of my process but this is a simple ATC so I can just explain how I came about this one.

I am joining the challenge over at Wicked Wednesday, The challenge this week is "Creepy Halloween", you should check them out, they have some really fun and fantastic challenges.
I don't get to do ATCs as much as I would like and I really love them.
For this one I used an idea that I had put on my previous tag book that I made HERE .. a friend of mine loved the crow page so I am going to make this ATC for her.

For starters (I did take a photo of this part LOL)  I used my Tim Holtz distress paints and water for the background. You just dab some paint onto your craft sheet and spritz with water, spritz your ATC paper with water and run it through the paint. It blends so well.
The ATC looks bent in the photos but when it's all dry it flattens out.

Look at how well that distress paints blends and flows. So amazing!!

Once that was done, I set it aside to dry.
I then used Tim Holtz movers and shapers crow and cut him out with black card stock. I applied glossy accents to him and sprinkled black distress glitter onto him and set aside to dry.
I stamped my image - (Stampotique's Teddy by artist Daniel Torrent) onto separate paper and colored him with copic markers. I then fussy cut him out while cutting his head off. That just sounds terrible, doesn't it? LOL
Once all was dry I adhered everything to my background.

I really had fun with this one and since this will be my last Halloween project for now, it's good to go out with a BANG!
Have a great day everyone.

A Coca~Cola Charm

I don't have a lot of photos from this project, I apologize about that in advance. Sometimes I get working in my craft room and I just get carried away and forget to take photos!
I had a few bottle caps laying around that I thought were neat looking, one of them was a coca~cola one and I have been wanting to alter it.
The flat one that I made here was just a plain cap that was already flattened that I bought off of ebay, they sell them in bulk there.. I am making a magnet out of that one.
So for starters I had to heat up the inside of each cap in order to take out the plastic. I just use my heat tool and some pliers.
Then I picked out some cool paper for my backgrounds.
One of the papers was a tag that I had made using my Gelli plate awhile back and I thought it would make a perfect background. I just use a 1" punch for these, it's the perfect size.

Then I decided to use the Tim Holtz rub ons for the sentiments. These are perfect and you can use glossy accents over them without worry that they will mess up or move.

I did bit a of stenciling on them and added a few elements. I also stamped the butterfly here on this one.
I used Archival ink pads just to be sure it didn't run once I put my glossy accents inside.

Once they were done I glues the paper inside the caps and added my glossy accents.
I also made holes in the Coca~cola charm in order for in order to add a few hanging things and my charm top.

For the magnet I simply added high power magnets to the back with E6000 glue.

Thanks again for stopping by, cya next time.
