No Cardboard or Paper Background ATCs
I am hosting a swap on one of my yahoo groups with the theme of "no paper or cardboard backgrounds" you were to make an ATC but you couldn't use paper or cardboard as the primary background for your project. I have gotten some of them in already from ladies and wow! they are really imaginative with this one. I wanted to share what I had come up with. So I went to Michael's and found these really cool plastic 8 1/2 x 11 squares with teeny tiny holes in them. I think they are used in needlepoint but not sure. I thought they would be perfect for my project. I distressed inks the background and used some of the new Tim Holtz Christmas dies and a memory box die for the fence to make a scene Christmas scene. Take a look...

Grungy Monday #27
I finally finished my Grungy Monday challenge for this week, I know, I'm a little slow. This weeks challenge was based off of Tim Holtz 12 tags of Christmas 2007 Day 6. Here is a link if you want to check it out...

Grungy Monday #26
Ok so over at STUDIO L3 It's time for Grungy Monday again and I figured I'd partake in this weeks challenge. It looked super fun and we all know how I love Tim Holtz so here we go....
This week we were to do the technique based upon Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas day #7 ... well since I didn't do the tags last year I thought this would be fun. Here is the tag I came up with, hope you like it. :)

Products that I used were Tim Holtz (of course) distress inks, stamps, acrylic paint dabbers and masks. Also used Stampin Up stamps, Smooch paints, Staz on Ink pad and LeBlanche Stamps
MORE FROM MY ART JOURNAL
I have steadily been working on my art journal and have been going to the class by Karen Bearse. It's been a ton of fun and I'm really loving all the techniques she is teaching us. It's a great time with my daughter too. We are going to bind our journals once we have enough pages to make them full so they aren't bound yet but I want to show you what I have so far. Fun fun.....

This page was done with Tim Holtz Distress Stains Backgrounds, I added gesso behind the stain on this page it gave it a muted aged look, kinda cool

Karen always brings us fun things to work on and at this class she brought mailing envelopes, this was a fun canvas to work with. :)

This was another of the pages with distress stains, on this one I didn't use the gesso

This page was from one of the first classes we did using gelatos. Those are much fun. With gelatos and water you can do so much and your backgrounds come out so pretty a vivid.

My First Grungy Monday Challenge
Over at Studio L3 they have this cool challenge each week called "Grungy Monday" it's usually some sort of Tim Holtz based challenge. This is the first time I have participated, I have always wanted to but just haven't had a chance to sit down and really do one. I'm super excited about it too. This week they challenged us to do "Perfect Distress" which is usually some sort of perfect pearls and ink combo, it gives your work a shiny and cool look. Here is what I came up with for this one.
I used the distress inks on the edges and in all the stamps in the background and then added copper and rust perfect pearls over those. I added the Memory Box butterfly die and the Tim Holtz rosette flower. Fall is my favorite time of year so I'm kind of stuck on the fall colors. :)

The Shelf Is Done
Well here is my finished re-done shelf. I kept the color because I thought it was a great color and the distress on it was super cool too so I just changed the roosters. I just need to find the perfect knob to finish it off. :) Hope you like it.
