Give Thanks Postcard

I have been joining in a postcard swap once a month in my yahoo ATC_Fun group and this month we are focusing on Thanksgiving. I really love Thanksgiving because it's a time that we reflect on the year and give thanks for all the wonderful gifts and blessings we have had. We give thanks for friends, family and all the wonderful people who have come in and out of our lives.
For this postcard I really wanted to focus on giving thanks.

For starters, I sprayed the background with Adirondack color washes in various colors. These sprays are so bright and vivid and really blend well together.
I then used the new Tim Holtz shatter stencil to go over the background.

I got this stencil the other day from Marco's Paper (as soon as I saw it, I pre-ordered it) It's beautiful, I just love the design it leaves. Awesome!!

I used the Tim Holtz Distress Glitter in spiced marmalade for the pumpkin. I really love this glitter, it's my new favorite. It's so pretty.

(sorry forgot to take a photo)
I used a Tim Holtz die to cut out my swirls in brown card stock and then stamped onto them with Espresso Adirondack ink and a large stamp.

I then used a Tim Holtz cat tail stamp and that same Adirondack Espresso pad to stamp onto my background.

I also cut my letters for my words out of the Tim Holtz Upon A Time letter die strip and brown cardstock.

After all was put together, here is my finished post card.

I just love how that pumpkin pops off the page with that glitter.

Thanks again for stopping by the blog, have a great day!!

Capture Life's Moments Fall Canvas

Hello Bloggies!
Over at the new Simon Says Stamp Blog they have challenged us to Stamp on Something Besides Plain Paper.
It's easy to stamp on plain paper but they are challenging us to stamp on something different this week.
I actually love this challenge, it really took me outside my comfort zone.
I decided I really wanted to do a Tim Holtz canvas that I had bought awhile back and just never used. (this happens a lot)

I also decided to use my Wendy Vecchi white modeling paste and a honey comb stencil. For the upper left hand corner and the lower right hand corner I simple tore up a paper plate and glued it onto my canvas. I figured, what the heck! haha! I set it all aside to dry.

After all was nice and dry I used a text stamp and archival ink to stamp here and there onto the paper plate and canvas portions, I wanted this to dry thoroughly so I set it aside for a bit.

I wanted to do a fall themed canvas so I stamped a Tim Holtz blueprint leaf stamp onto watercolor paper and colored it using distress markers and my water brush.

I then simple tore the edges around my leaf and edged them with distress ink.

Next I used my Ranger Adirondak color wash sprays in various colors and, without using water, sprayed them directly onto my canvas.

They came out beautiful

Once that was dry I edged my canvas with black soot distress ink, this gives it a more finished look and brings your eye in

I also added a bit of shimmer with various colors of perfect pearls.

You can kind of see the nice shimmer that the perfect pearls gives the stencil and paper plate.

Lastly, I added a word plate that I colored a bit with gold paint dabber.

Then when you put it all together, this is what you get....

Almost forgot... what would a project be without a butterfly? I added one in the upper lefthand corner.

Thanks again for stopping by, may your heart always be full and your cup runneth over. :)

Happy Boo-Day

My Dad's birthday is on October 30th AND.. over at the Stampotique Designer's Blog this week, their challenge is Birthday's. Today is Stampotique designer Kim's birthday too, Happy Birthday Kim!! This is  also perfect because I figured I could just make something for my Dad for this challenge. I went with a tag.. lol
To begin I sprayed my tag with a healthy dose of water and Ranger's  Color Wash. I love their color pallet, they are beautiful. I then dried the tag with a heat tool so I could get right to work.

I then decided that I wanted to use my Relaxin girl for this project. By artists Daniel Torrent and Jill Penney. Love their stuff, seriously!!!
I colored her with distress markers and cut her out.
I also wanted to add wings to her so I used my Spider wings stamp and I also colored those with distress markers. I wanted her to have dimensional wings so I made two on the same side and cut a small slit in her back and inserted one so that it would stand out.

I wanted balloons instead of the umbrella so I simply cut it off.

For the balloons I used the Halloween Cube 2, I stamped them in a line on a scratch sheet of manilla card stock.

I then free hand drew balloons around each one and
used distress markers to color them.

I also edged them with distress ink to make them pop a little more.. (no pun intended there lol)
For the background I used my Seaweed stamp (by artist Jo Capper-Sandon) and stamped it in various Archival colors.

The seaweed stamp really looks awesome here in the background.
I wrote the words "Happy Boo-day" on manilla paper, cut it out, edged it and added it. I also added a few strips of tissue tape here and there and some ribbon.
Take a look at my final outcome, I am loving it!

Thanks for coming by and spending a little time with me. Tomorrow I will be posting my Fall project with a Tim Holtz burlap canvas. See ya then...
