Stampotique Challenge 244 - Scribbles

Hello and welcome back to the blog. It's Wednesday and you know what that means... it's time for another  fun challenge over at Stampotique.

This week Arwen McCullen is our hostess and she is challenging us to Scribbles, here is what Arwen says about this challenge:
"I want to see scribbles in your projects this week, that can be by hand or by stamp, just add some scribbles."

For my project this week I wanted to do a mini canvas but I didn't have one so I created one haha!
I started my project with a stencil and some crackle paste
I used Ranger watercolor paper for this

Once dry, I applied some Color Burst and water. (love this stuff) Usually I apply water and then color burst but this time I put  some color burst first and then spritzed with water

I kept adding water and more color until I achieved the look I wanted

I then added my Stampotique images (which I colored with topic markers), I used the stamps:
Mabel - By artist Karen Hayselden
Prairie Flowers - By artist Terri Richardson

I then added scribbles around the edge and little mini circles here and there with my Pitt Pen

After everything was dry and put onto my background I then used cardboard as my base and simply glued my watercolor paper to the cardboard. This gives me a sturdy piece to work with and it will hang better

I added my canvas to the Tim Holtz Idea-ology hanger. I stamped and put the Phrase Artsy Fartsy on the faceplate of the hanger. (that is also a Stampotique stamp) This was so fun to make and I love the outcome!!

We hope you will come on over to the Stampotique Challenge Blog and join us this week.

Her Soul Danced - Roc Nicholas Design Team Post

Welcome back to the blog and thanks for stopping by. Today is my day to post for the Roc Nicholas Design Team
I can't tell you how thrilled I am to be on this team, Roc's stamps are so fun and whimsical and I just love using them

By the way, have you seen Roc's new released stamps?
Come by Stampotique and check them out, they are fabulous!

I started this canvas with acrylic paint and added a bit of white paint with a credit card over it

I then added loads of elements to make up my background, the black honeycombs is black embossing paste, applied through a stencil

For the row of houses at the bottom, I added words stamped with Roc's brand new stamp Roc's Tree
I also added flourishes around the edges of my canvas with Roc's stamp called Heart Vine

Here is a close up look at the row of houses

I then added my main images and Phrase

The two girls are stamps:

and the phrase is one of Roc's new stamps

On a side note - those beautiful wings are the art of Tanager Hammerface one of my wonderful artsy friends. I love her! You can check out her Facebook page here: Fairies and Finds She is amazing.

Thanks for coming by and make sure to check out all of Roc's stamps at Stampotique.com

Cheers!

Favorite Colors - Stampotique Challenge 171

Welcome back everyone, today there is a new challenge over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge Blog and our hostess this week is the super Nellie Van Leeuwen
She has chosen the theme, Use Your Favorite Colors
What a great theme! I am excited about this one!

For this challenge I chose to make a mixed media canvas
I used the Stampotique Stamps:

Paris Lamp PostFrench Journal Page, Comfort Zone all by artist France Papillon

My favorite colors are those of Fall, I just love the browns, oranges, reds and yellows that come with the Fall season and so I used all of these colors on my burlap panel.

(Oh my goodness, I just realized there is a moth sitting on my canvas in this photo haha!!)

Here is a photo of the tissue tape around the edges

I used metal butterflies for each corner of my canvas

I created a lot of texture in this background with embossing pastes, fabrics and paint.

Come on over to the Designer's Challenge Blog and join in on this challenge. You could be the lucky winner of a 30.00 gift card to spend in the store.
Cheers!!

Auction in Support "Bring Back My Girls"

On April 14, nearly 300 girls were abducted from their school in Nigeria simply for pursuing an education. One month later, artists are coming together for these girls. On May 15, artists around the world will post, tweet and create around this issue and the right of girls everywhere to pursue an education without fear. Many artists have donated work to be auctioned off on May 15. All proceeds will go to girlrising.com, a global campaign for girls' education.
The Auctions will start today May 15th at 7am EDT and end May 17th at 3am EDT

I have been following this story and I really wanted to do something to help get these girls back from their captors. I have created two pieces for this auction at 32 Auctions, I hope you will have a look at all the wonderful pieces that all the artists have created and possible give them a bid. You can also donate monies if you don't want to bid on anything.
Anything you give goes directly to Girls Rising to support the world wide struggle to educate girls safely

The two piece I have donated are a 5x7 flat mixed media canvas
created using acrylic paint, Dina Wakley and Tim Holtz stamps, Wendy Vecchi embossing paste and stencils

and also a 17" necklace made completely by me using beads and Tim Holtz ideaology part and alcohol inks

There are also many other artists who have donated items for the auctions -
