Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2013 - December

Well, I've done it! I've made it through every single Tim Holtz Tag of 2013 and I'm so excited that I stuck with these because my display board looks amazing and I am so happy with it.

For this month's tag, make sure to check out the tutorial and all the details on how to make this one on Tim's Blog here:

Tim really broke the mold with this one, it's beautiful! One of my favorites of this year.

Some things I had to change in order for mine to fit inside my display board was the poinsettia and the word stamp.

For my poinsettia I used  the large Tattered Poinsettia die that Tim used, only I used the two smaller sizes and not the larger one. I then used Tim's movers and shapers Poinsettia in order to make one size smaller petal. I also used the holly leaf here as well.

I also wanted to see how stamping would work and look if I stamped onto the poinsettia's petals. I used Tim's Reflections wording set here and stamped on the smooth, Clearly for art side of my petals. So this way when I turned the petals to the frosted film side, the words are correct.

I also used two colors for my background, I didn't have the color stain Tim used (antique linen) so I used frayed burlap and tarnished brass.

Since the Verse stamp that Tim used was too big for mine, I made my own word banner. I used manilla card stock and two colors of Archival Inks (Wendy Vecchi) to color my banner.

I  then used Tim's "Simple Sayings" stamp set to stamp my words

After everything was put together, I'm really in love with this one. It's so amazing!!  (I forgot to do the white paint, but added it after all the photos were already taken, oops)

and again here is my finished 7 Gypsies tray, displaying all twelve of the tags.

Thanks again for stopping by and sharing this year long journey with me. Make sure to check out Tim's Blog to get the full tutorial's on all of the tags.
Have a great day!!

The Twelve Tags of 2013 - November

Hello everyone, today I wanted to share with you my project for this month's tag. As many of you know Tim Holtz is doing his 12 tags of 2013 again this year and he does one a month. We are now into the 11th tag for November.
I am also putting together a 7 gypsies tray, one ATC sized project for each month of the tags. Tim's tags always always so much fun to do and he always gives us a fun technique.
You can go over to Tim's blog HERE to check out the full tutorial and details.
Here is my project for this month....

My tray is almost finished, only one more slot to fill. I cannot wait to finish it and hang it in the house. So many fun techniques and projects to see and look at here.
Thanks again for stopping by, have a great day.

12 Tags of 2013 October

Today I am sharing my October tag project from the Tim Holtz Tags of 2013 .. I am doing the 7 gypsy ATC tray for mine and I am so excited, only two months to go until this entire thing is done. YAY!!
For the October tag, Tim used some of his distress glitter and let me tell you, this glitter is Ah-Maz-Ing. I really love it, it has glitz like no other.

You can see all the details to make this wonderful tag over on Tim's blog here:

Since I am using the 7 gypsie tray I had to alter my tag a bit to make it smaller.
I decided to go with the scary cat instead of the owl but I did use distress glitter on both my moon and my cat.

For my background I used Distress paints and Acrylic paint dabber.

Just look at how cool that background came out. I also used a wood mounted Tim Holtz word stamp.

For my words, I decided to use the Tim Holtz Simple Sayings Stamp set but I had to make the word frame smaller. I simply stamped my word and cut the frame smaller and taped it together.

I added a few small gems and whalla!! The October ATC/Tag is done.
Look at how cool that distress glitter is, beautiful!!

Almost done with my tray YAY!!!
I am really loving how it's looking.

Thanks again for stopping by, make sure to check out Tim Holtz's blog for all the wonderful details for the October tag.
Have a great day!!

12 Tags of 2013

Now that I am back to crafting again, I was able to sit down and catch up on my 12 Tags of 2013 by Mr Tim Holtz. If you remember, I was working on mine to add to my 7 Gypsies ATC tray and I was adding one a month. Well, I had to stop after I did May's in order to move and haven't gotten going again.
I was so happy to be able to sit down yesterday and continue on my 12 tag journey.
I finished June, July, August and September yesterday. WOW! Can you believe it? This was no easy task.

So my first one (June) came out like this:
If you check out Tim's Blog you can see how different they are and how Tim made this wonderful tag. I love the distress markers on the watercolor paper. Tim used the dragonfly stamp, which I love but it was a big large for the size that I needed to work with so I went with the bird stamp instead.

The next tag was July's and I just love all the details that Tim used with his. I wanted to add more but I just ran out of space.
Here is Tim's if you want to check it out...

For the August tag, Tim used his mask sheets and I just love those things, they are the greatest! I could have done a dozen of these.

Last but not least we have September, this is one of my favorites! I'm addicted to Tim's technique on this one. If you haven't seen it, you must go over to the blog and check it out.

I have used this technique in quite a few of my projects lately and I just love it! It's stunning!!

Here is how my tray now looks after those four tags were added.

I am really loving how it's coming together and with all Tim's techniques throughout the year so far, it's fab!!
Thanks once again for stopping by and have a super, artsy day!

Some Things To Share

Hey Bloggies, how is everyone today? It's been pretty hot and getting somewhat humid here now. I hear that the Cicadas are supposed to be coming out soon, eww! I have not seen or experienced one before and it's just our luck that right before we move Virginia is due for one and in our area too!! We got through almost 4 years without them. O-well I suppose this is something I can say I've experienced now. haha! Hopefully none of them hitch a ride on our moving trailer.

Anyway, I have a few things I want to share with you today. One being the Tim Holtz 2013 tag for May. I finished mine yesterday and put it into the display along with the others.
If you would like to play along with Tim, here is a link:

Here is my finished one:

I also wanted to share with you a prize that I had won a few weeks ago from the wonderful Jessica Sporn, she was doing a very generous drawing on her blog and I happen to win one of her beautiful watercolors.

It's so bright and cheery and I'm in love with it. Thank you Jessica!!! If you would like to check out her blog, here is a link:

The final thing I wanted to share with you today is my finished piece from the online Andy Skinner class that I took called The Book OF Ruination. This was just awesome! I learned so much and now I know a few more techniques. WOW! For this I didn't use a book, I used a box that I had gotten at the thrift store. It has a little hanger at the top and it slides open,  It looked like this when I began...

You'll never believe what it looks like now...
Here are some photos..........

I highly recommend this online class, it's so informative and easy too. I love how mine turned out and I'm not sure what I will put inside yet but I will think of something.. Here is a link to the class:

You also get a bonus class called "Rock this book", can't wait to try that one too.
Thanks for coming by, have a great day.

Twelve Tags of 2013

As you all know I am working each month on Tim's Twelve Tags of 2013. I am not doing tags but I am doing a sort of ATC sized card for each month in order to display them in my 7 Gypsies printers tray.

This is what Tim's beautiful tag looks like. Stunning!!

Here is how my finished creation turned out

I used a butterfly stamp instead of the dragonfly because the dragonfly was a bit large for the size I'm doing. I simply took Tim's butterfly stamp from the Papillon set and just used one of the butterflies on it.
I also used this mini blueprint gears from the Mini Blueprint 3 set for the background.

I did the distress paint background the same way Tim did his except I added the color Chipped Sapphire to the mix.

That Distress Metallic is so pretty and shimmery.

Once the background was stamped I used tissue tape. One of the tissue/washi tapes that I chose to use was really white in color so I took some distress stain, Walnut Stain and changed the color to more of a brown, aged look.

I colored the metal for my background the same way Tim did, with distress paint and a finger.

The sentiment metal piece that Tim used was too large for mine so I made my own with this little frame and a word stamp. I made a background for it with distress paints in coordinating colors.

I added the wings the same way that Tim did his for the dragonfly. With some Wendy Vecchi, Clearly for Art and Archival ink. So cool looking.

I think it came out really great and it looks super in my display along with my others.

Here are a few more photos of the finished piece.

I always have fun with Tim's 12 tags, I hope you will give this a shot and play along too.
Thanks for stopping by and have a super day.
