Stampotique New Year

Hello all and welcome back to the blog. Today marks the first challenge of 2015 for Stampotique and I am so excited because this is my first time hosting!

I chose to do a "New Years Resolution" theme

"Most of us always have a New Years Resolution at the beginning of the new year. For the first challenge of 2015 try your hand at making something with your new years resolution in mind"

My New Years Resolution is two fold - To Art Journal More Often and also to step outside my comfort zone

The Stampotique team has decided to merge and all of the Designer's Blog girls and the Designer's Challenge girls have all moved over to the Stampotique Designer's Challenge Blog
The Designer's Blog has closed down and there will be no more posts there. It will remain open so you can always look back at what we had done for inspiration.

So being as this is my first project on the Designer's Blog I am thrilled

I decided to do a Journal Page for this project and wanted to walk you through my process

To start I used some washi tape to one side of my page, the side where the perforated edge is, this will help reinforce my page and prevent it from tearing out of my book

Next I grabbed a bunch of misc printed paper and tissue paper and added that with glue

I then used some Tim Holtz distress paint to bring the colors together

I then applied another lighter color

I used Stampotique Stamp French Journal Page By France Papillon
here and there onto my background in a similar orange color

I used a diamond stencil and the lighter color of paint to create those diamonds

I used stampotique stamp Stacked Boxes - By Roc Nicholas
for the bottom portion of my page and then I colored those with paint

I didn't take a photo of this step but I stamped my girls head onto separate paper and colored her and then I paper pieced a dress together for her
This was Stampotique Stamp - Miss Snottie by artist Daniel Torrente

For my sentiment I used Stampotique Stamp - Comfort Zone - By France Papillon
I also used this same stamp for the edging but only used the words "comfort zone"

Here is my finished page

but I wasn't quite satisfied with how the dress didn't stand out on my girl so I added some more paint and finished with this
I like this much better!

Thanks so much for coming by and I really hope you will join in the challenge over at the Stampotique Blog, you have a chance to win a 30.00 gift certificate to the online store!

Thanks for coming by, have a great day!

  6. Oh she is so adorable. And you made a great job coloring her and creating a paper pieced dress for her ( allthough adding more paint in the end ). Love the comfort zone stamp and the way you used part of it around the edges !!!
Thank you for a small easy tutorial.
Like the one you showed with your altered playing cards a few days ago. Did'nt have time to comment. But they were fabulous. Live the black texture paste you added...And of course the stamped girls...lol
Thanks for all what you do share. It's so much of an inspiration to me.
