Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2014 - November

I'm doing so good because I've been at home crafting lately. I had been so behind in all the challenges I love and also

Since I've had my foot surgery I've been stuck at home, which is a good thing because I'm catching up on all things crafty!
I had long loved Tim's 12 Tags and I've always done all of them. I have missed a few this year due to other obligations but I vow to catch up on those I've missed. I was able to sit down and do November's tag. I was in AWE when I saw his tag this month, it's just beautiful! Tim is always so creative!

I didn't have all the wonderful supplies that Tim used but I did improvise on those items.
As you all know, I am doing postcards instead of tags this year. I always make two, one for me and one for a friend

I started out by choosing my Distress Paint colors for my backgrounds and followed Tim's directions for applying them

I used the Layered Butterfly Die and embossing folder instead of the leaf one that Tim used.... I didn't have the stencil Tim used so I used the Burlap one

I also did not have the foil so I used Zing embossing glitter

Again, I didn't have any Distress Spray Stains (next on my shopping list) so I used my Adirondack Sprays

To add the gold I used Distress Paint and splashed and painted it on with a paintbrush

I didn't even realize how many substitutions I had to use until I started this post but hey, that is what the tags are all about, doing your own thing with Tim's tutorial.

Here is my finished Postcards:

I am really loving how they came out, the colors are beautiful and I love the cardboard!!
Make sure to check out Tim's Tag for November, it's just stunning!

Another 12 Tags of 2014 - August

So, I usually do two postcards for the 12 Tags of 2014 and this month I only did one. I decided that I wasn't satisfied with one so I made another one. LOL...

I always like to have one for a friend and one for me, so I just had to make another. I didn't want to two to be the same so I made a different one this time.

Like the last postcard, I started by using Tim's tissue paper

I also used Tim's Tissue Tape, stamps and various stencils

I also used my gelli roll pen to write over the metal in my word band, I wasn't sure if it was going to work at all but it worked pretty good

If you want to see how to make this entire postcard, make sure to head over to Tim's Blog and check out the full tutorial

Here is my finished postcard

I used Tim's Word Band, ideology trinkets, stencils, remnant rubs, stamps, distress inks and much more on this postcard, how fun to put so many wonderful products together in a mixed media piece!!!

I think I'm in love with this one, I just love the way the color came out.
Hope you have enjoyed my postcard today, have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!!!

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2014 - August

For the new Tim Holtz Tag for August Tim wanted us to explore our "muse" and create this month's tag using our own creative style and "muse".
I love this and I really love the idea of just creating using our own unique creative styles.

Of course if your following along with my blog, you know that I have decided to make postcards instead of tags this year. I really like the idea of the postcards because my 7Gypsies craft tray is looking so full and I just love it AND I send one every month to a crafty friend of mine, what better way to get some "happy mail" than to receive a postcard

For starters I gathered some of my favorite Tim Holtz products to use

Next, using multi matte medium I adhered my tissue paper and tape onto my background
I also used Tim's stamps and archival ink to stamp my images

I created the rest of my background using Tim's tutorial HERE
Make sure to check it out

For my finished postcard, I used Tim's Idea-ology trinkets, tissue tape, tissue paper, dies, grungeboard, embossing distress powder, stamps and so much more.

This was such a fun postcard to create, with all the wonderful layers and depth, what a thrill!! I hope you will try your hands at making the 12 Tags of 2014 for August because it's a blast!!
Thanks for stopping by today, I hope to see you soon
CHEERS!

12 Tags of 2014 - July - Altered Trading Block

Hello all, welcome back to the blog. For today's post I have been working on the 12 Tags of 2014 for July

Make sure to check out Tim's blog for the awesome tutorial

So for this month's tag I had such a great time making the postcards (remember I'm doing postcards each month?) that I thought, this would make a perfect Artist Trading Block too, there has been an Artist Trading Block Craze lately, thanks to Eileen Hull and Sizzix for making these, they are so fun to play with.
If your curious make sure to check out the Artist On The Block Blog  for some fun and amazing ideas and inspiration

I must say that Tim really put so many techniques into this month's tag and I had such a great time experimenting.

For the background I started with my postcards and they turned out so beautiful, I just love the way the layering of Distress paint and distress inks and up looking like water

I didn't take many photos of my process because Tim explains it all on his site HERE but I did take loads of photos of the finished postcards and Artist Trading Block

For the Top side and back side of my block I used the "Waves" embossing folder and the other sides I used the "bubble" folder

Of course I had to do my postcards as well

I just really love how these turned out, I think this month is my very favorite of this year's tags so far

12 Tags of 2014 - June

Hello all, thanks for coming by today
I have been working on my Postcard for this month's Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2014, make sure to check it out HERE
This months tag is so gorgeous and I love the technique Tim used with his stencils and watercolor paper

I had so much fun with this month's postcard (I'm making postcards each month) that I ended up making three.

I did three very different backgrounds
One was done on regular manila card stock (far left)
The middle one and far right were both done on watercolor paper but they were done on different brands of watercolor paper. This paper was sent to me by a friend and you can see that the piece to the far right was way more absorbent
This gives you a good idea on how the technique Tim used turns out differently on different paper

I used the same color distress stains for the two on the right and a few other colors for the manilla card stock, I actually like how they all turned out

I then used distress inks to go around the edges and also the middle of each background

I embossed each of my main images with black embossing powder and I then colored them with distress markers and a water pen

I used various Tim Holtz stencils, distress inks and die cuts to create background images
While using the stencils I use sticky note paper to mask of portions that I don't want in my background (see below)

Here are my three finished postcards

I love how each background was created the same but each one turned out very different
I am going to enter the dragonfly postcard here

in the following two challenges

Our Creative Corner - The Challenge over there is "Flaming June" based on a photo by Lord Frederic Leighton

A Vintage Journey - Their Challenge is "Wings and Things"

Make sure to check out both challenges if you have some time and also be sure to stop by Tim Holtz's website to get a full tutorial on this months tag.

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2014 MAY

Hello everyone, thanks for coming by the blog once again. Today I would like to share with you my creations for this months 12 Tags of 2014 by Mr. Tim Holtz

If you have time make sure to go by his blog here - Tim Holtz and check out the tag for this month. You may even get some inspiration to try out your own tag

If your like me, you cherish all those little trickiest that you buy and sometimes you don't even use them because they are too cute to use LOL... aren't we, as crafters, funny that way?

I know that I have a complete stock of many, many, many trinkets that I just love and Tim has really pressed us to use some of those items with this months tag and I'm so glad he did because that's what they are for, right? To be used on your creations!
Once again, I am making postcards and I always make two, one for me and one to give away.
To begin, Tim had asked us to use distress paint, stains or inks to color our background and I decided to use several different colors of distress inks
I did one in the blue tones and one in the orange/brown tones

Here are photos of my backgrounds before I added all the trinkets, I chose to use two different shadow press words for each and misc pieces of Tim's paper

For the first postcard I chose to use the butterfly and Industrious Frame Sticker just like Tim did but I added a word band to the bottom. I then used an arrow created like the butterfly, with paper and cardboard and the new Tim Holtz artful arrows bigs die

Since you couldn't really see the words on the word band, I used picket fence distress paint and painted it white and then wiped it down so the white would "settle" into the words
I also used a new Tim Holtz Idea-ology item called Monocles
I used a piece of Tim's paper (the bird) and glossy accents to add the photo to the back of the monocle

For my next postcard I used the honeycomb frameworks die to create my block in the upper middle here, I wanted my framework piece to be the same depth as the rest of my block pieces (each one is paper on top of cardboard) so I used a piece of paper without the cardboard underneath and added grungeboard under the frameworks paper, this way it ended up the same height as everything else. - the small bee is the only thing that I used that is not Tim Holtz's product, it is from Vintaj

Here are the postcards together

I love the way these turned out and I'm so glad that I got to get some of those ideology pieces out and use them

Thanks for coming by and have a wonderful day.
