Art Journaling in My Tag Book

Hello all and welcome back to the blog, thanks again for stopping by. Today I am sharing page #2 in my tag book that I am making while following along in Marjie Kemper's online class with Craftsy. I posted the first page HERE if you missed it. 

This page is a two section spread and following along with Marjie's class I created this....

The quote on this page is something that my friend Terri and I say all the time, it's become one of my favorite quotes. haha!

I can't tell you how much fun I had creating this page, Marjie is so awesome at explaining what to do and easy to follow along.

My Filofax Tabs

Hello and welcome to the blog. Today I'd like to talk about my newest obsession, my Filofax. I am loving this organizer and am having so much fun making tabs for it and figuring out how I want to organize it. 

The store where I work,  Simple Pleasures Rubber Stamps and Scrapbooking starting carrying these this month and as soon as I got one I was hooked. My boss Cathy will ship these (or any products) so if you want to buy one make sure to call the store and see what we have in stock. 719-528-1338

Here are some of the tabs I've made for my Filofax

This was the first tab that I made, I used Memorybox stencils and Archival ink. I also used butterfly wash tape around the edges, this one came out simple but I love it

I used a Memory Keeper Punch to make the tabs in the side, labeled "Notes" this is a perfect punch for making tabs, the punch even comes with clear plastic tab covers, its awesome! We also sell the tab punch, stencils and inks at the store

For my next insert I used my round gel plate and Dina Wakley paints to create this fun page. I used several different stencils for the numbers and texture in the background. (this is my budget tab)

For my next insert, I used a combo of acrylic paints and Dina Wakley paints. My stamped images are from Stampotique Originals and I used Copic markers to color them. This is my opening page for my filofax

As you can see I love color, this insert is no exception. I used Tim Holtz Crazy Bird stamp set along with the die set (makes it easier to cut out these cool birds) and colored my images with Copic markers. For my background I used Dina Wakley Paints again and I added some washi tape and doodling. The tab for this page says "Store Cards" I will keep all those darn store cards behind this tab.

Last but not least, I created this insert with Wendy Vecchi crackle texture paste in white and also her regular texture paste, I used the paste through a bunch of different stencils.

Next I added Tim Holtz distress inks in several colors

I added black cardstock letters cut out with Tim Holtz Word Play Sizzix Die

This tab is going to be my Budget Tab, I switched this one and the gelli plate one from above. That tab was changed to "lists"

So those are my tabs so far, I plan to hopefully make a few more but I think I'm well on my way to having my filofax organized the way I like it.

Scrap Journal Page

Hello all and welcome back to the blog. It's been awhile since I did some journaling just for me and not for something specific. I sat down at my craft table and opened my journal

with intentions to do a page but my mind went blank. 

I couldn't think of what I wanted the page to be about and I was looking around my table for inspiration and I had that "lightbulb" moment. LOL... has that ever happened to you?

I had so many papers and scraps and other doo-dads on my table and I thought, "why not make a page with only items that were currently on my craft table?"

I encourage you to do this, specially if your a crafter and don't clean up your table often enough haha! 

If you decide to do this please leave me link to your photo or blog post so I can see what you have done as well

While creating this page, it kind of took on a life of it's own. There are torn papers, pieces of leftover wash tape, stamps, stencils and the flower at the bottom of the page was a mask that I used on a Stampotique challenge a few weeks back. It has been stamped on several times with black ink

The butterfly was already stamped, colored and cut out and I didn't use it previously so it sat there for months on my desktop, same with the crow.

The quote on the tag I had printed that out a few months back and intended to use it on a project and then never did LOL...

I love the way my page came out, this was so much fun. I will have to do it again in a few months and see what I come up with.

Altered Puzzle Week 5

Welcome back to the blog, it's Memorial Day today so Happy Memorial Day everyone!! 
We are onto week 5 of the Altered Puzzle Challenge and starting row #2

This week we are starting on the second row to our puzzle, pieces 7 and 8.. I decided to go with something simple for these two pieces since it's a holiday week

starting with piece #7 I began by using Dylusions Sprays and 

a water spitzer, first spray the puzzle piece with water and then spritz with Dylusions, I just kind of let the colors run

Once everything is dry I used a piece of punchinella (you can also use any stencil) and my black Zig marker to create circles here and there

I then used my white gelli pen to doodle a bit

I used a piece of gelli print leftover paper to cut out some triangles for the edges 

I then used my Zig marker again to doodle

(if you haven't noticed I love to doodle) 

Lastly I printed out my sentiment, cut out, edged and glued

This is my final piece

For my next piece I began by using Archival Ink in a brown color and a stencil 

I also edged the puzzle piece with the same ink

I added some black wash tape here and there

I then used some of Tim Holtz Chitchat stickers for my sentiment

I also used Tim Holtz framework die to create the little chevron across the front

I used my white gel pen to outline my "ok" word which was created using black card stock and a Tim Holtz die

These were fast and simple but the outcome is no less exciting. I hope you have fun creating your pieces for this week and enjoy your Memorial Day!! See you next week

A Journal Spread With Dylusions Paint

Welcome back to the blog today and thanks for stopping by.

Today I am using the new Dylusions Paints to create a journal spread. I will be working in my Dylusions Large journal for this.

I started this page by glueing some leftover printed paper here and there

I then chose a few of the Dylusions colors for my background
These paints are very fluid and go on somewhat transparent, so you should be able to see the paper through the paint once it's applied

I used lots of Dyluions stencils and paint, you can still see the paper on the edges even though I used several of the Dylusions colors over it
I just love how the background turned out here, Dyan's colors are so vibrant and beautiful

I used the black paint and a few stencils to create my girl

Tim Holtz Bird Crazy Journal Page

Hello and welcome to the blog. Today I wanted to show you a journal page that I did last week.

 I finally got my hands on that wonderful Tim Holtz stamp set called Bird Crazy this set is all the rage right now and I have seen so many fun projects using the set

For this page, I used Prima's Color Bloom spray in the color Cobalt to add color to my background

I haven't used these sprays before and I was anxious to give them a try, the color I used came out perfect

I used Tim Holtz's Honeycomb Frameworks Die as a sort of template before I sprayed the background

I then used s Tim's Tracks Stencil in my background, along with Archival ink in a blue color

The leaf is a stamp that was sent to me and created by my friend Terri Richardson 

I printed off the sentiment and adhered onto my page

I cannot wait to play with this stamp set again, such fun!!

Altered Playing Card Challenge Week 26

Oh my gosh, only one more week to go for The Altered Playing Card Challenge, Wow. How fun has this been? I've had a great time and I can't believe it's almost over

This week I wanted to focus on something called Monochromatic which basically means creating something with one color in many different shades. You can also use white or black in a monochrome project. 

I am no good with monochrome and it's a tough concept for me so this week will be a sort of challenge for me as well.

I started out with two different printed papers, one was a light teal color and the other was purple

I then grabbed some stencils, both of these are by Dylusions

For the next step I used acrylic paint but feel free to use inks if you choose

I did the purple card first and used a slightly darker shade of paint along with the stencil

( I like to use sponge dabbers with paint and stencils, you don't want too much paint on your dabber, I usually dab in the paint and then dab onto the craft sheet a few times and then begin to work)

For the second teal card, I did the same

Working with the teal card first, I first added a bit of ink around the edges

I then used my fine tip Bic marker and doodled a bit 

I then stamped Roc Nicholas's stamp called Screaming Bunny onto white card stock and colored him with copics

I used several different shades of teal for this

I then cut my bunny out

I used a different color ink to stamp Bla Bla Bla by Jill Penney and Daniel Torrente onto my background, then adhered my bunny and my words Even Silence Speaks By Jo Capper-Sandon

For the purple card I first used ink to edge my card

I then used my white gel pen to created some doodles here and there

I added some wash tape, I like to tear my washi tape and then add it to my backgrounds

I stamped  Mervynboy and Hat onto white card stock and colored them with several different shades of purple

I added the Goody, goody gumdrops sentiment last

I hope that you will try this monochromatic theme this week. You don't even have to do yours like I did mine, as long as the concept is the same. The same colors in different shades.
