Stampotique Challenge 229 - Two Much Fun

Hello all and welcome back to the blog today. This week over at  Stampotique our hostess is Valerie and her challenge is "Two Much Fun"
This is what Valerie says about this challenge:
"This week let's feature two's. You can interpret this any way you want. Duos, Mirrors, the number 2, duplicates - whatever comes to mind"
I decided to work in my tag book that my friend Terri sent me. I'm not sure what I was thinking when I began this page but I like how it turned out haha!

I used Stampotique Stamps

Reggie and Rudy - By Artist Daniel Torrente

In this background I used some stencils and clear embossing paste, Dina Wakley's paints and some other misc stencils.
The "Friends" word is a thinlits die by Tim Holtz.

Come on over to the Stampotique  Designer's Challenge Blog and join us this week. There is also a ton of inspiration from our design team.

Altered Playing Card Challenge - Jokers

Hello all and welcome back to the Altered Playing Card Challenge!
This is our final week of the challenge and we are finishing up with the jokers. This week isn't required but if you want to do it, I encourage you to go for it.

I am going to wait a few weeks for everyone to get caught up and finish this challenge and then we will start another small challenge.

Here is our Facebook Group link if you ever want to join in

For this week I wanted to do something simple but unique and fun.  I decided to go with using stencils this week but I want you to try and find some stencils with a lot of blank space to them.

For my first card I first painted the card two different colors
(sorry about the square photos, somehow my iPhone photo camera was set to "squares" LOL)

I then grabbed a stencil and some ink... using a stencil with a lot of blank space was my goal. I wanted to cover up most of the background but not all of it
So for this card I used an orange color over the top of the paint

I love the outcome once the  stencil is moved

Pretty cool right? haha!

Next I used a stamp and black in to stamp one side

I tore some washi tape for the bottom of my card

I had some leftover small die cut flowers and butterflies so I used those on my card as well, everything was glued down

I then used my white gel pen to doodle a little here and there
I also wrote the word Beauty  and cut it out
Here is my first finished card

For my second card I went with printed card stock and just covered the entire background with a piece

I then took another stencil and some red ink and inked part of the background

I only used part of the stencil this time

I then took a different ink color and a stamp and stamped through the stencil

I masked off part of the stencil prior to stamping, I didn't want to stamping inside the "Love" area

I then took a black marker and doodled some

and lastly I cut out a heart from a sheet of black lined paper, used my white gel pen to outline it and drew a string with a black marker

Here is my finished second card

and here are the two cards together

I hope you have had a fun time with this challenge!! I will be back in a few weeks to start a new challenge.
CHEERS!!!

"Joy To The World" Christmas Postcard

Hello there everyone, today I have a postcard for you. This one was a little different for me because I didn't use any stamps, inks or stencils. You know how I love those and use them in almost everything I do. I did use a tiny bit of paint I couldn't resist. haha!
Well for this particular postcard I decided to use some of my fantastic Memory Box dies. They are so intricate and they have so many to choose from.

For starters I got out my dies and picked out a few I wanted to use.

I had cut the mini row of houses onto my red paper, making sure that there was overlap so that it wasn't cut completely out.
My card looks crooked here but it's perfectly straight I promise. haha! It's because it's sitting on this grid pad.

I then cut a piece of white card stock to use as a template so that I could cut a window into my card.
(there might be an easier way to do this but this was the quickest and simplest way for me)

I then used my Xacto knife to cut around the white piece of card stock and ending at the edges of the row of houses.

The ending result should look like this..

Once that is done cut another 4x6 piece of white card stock for your background and lay out your other items to see who you want your postcard to look.

I decided I wanted something in this background to sort of look like snow flurries so I used two colors of Tim Holtz distress paints. I just used my paintbrush to dip into the paint and splattered it across my paper here and there.

Once that was all good and dry...
I then glued my piece of red card stock on top of that and edged   it all with Archival black ink.

I then used glossy accents to glue everything onto my postcard and whalla!! Here is the end result....

I ended up making three of these, two to send and one to keep.

Thanks for stopping by today, it snowed here in Colorado so I will most likely being staying home and crafting again today. YAY!!!
Have a good one!!

OPPS!

Hey-yo! Everyone. So for today's project, I'm a dork and forgot to take photos of my process but this is a simple ATC so I can just explain how I came about this one.

I am joining the challenge over at Wicked Wednesday, The challenge this week is "Creepy Halloween", you should check them out, they have some really fun and fantastic challenges.
I don't get to do ATCs as much as I would like and I really love them.
For this one I used an idea that I had put on my previous tag book that I made HERE .. a friend of mine loved the crow page so I am going to make this ATC for her.

For starters (I did take a photo of this part LOL)  I used my Tim Holtz distress paints and water for the background. You just dab some paint onto your craft sheet and spritz with water, spritz your ATC paper with water and run it through the paint. It blends so well.
The ATC looks bent in the photos but when it's all dry it flattens out.

Look at how well that distress paints blends and flows. So amazing!!

Once that was done, I set it aside to dry.
I then used Tim Holtz movers and shapers crow and cut him out with black card stock. I applied glossy accents to him and sprinkled black distress glitter onto him and set aside to dry.
I stamped my image - (Stampotique's Teddy by artist Daniel Torrent) onto separate paper and colored him with copic markers. I then fussy cut him out while cutting his head off. That just sounds terrible, doesn't it? LOL
Once all was dry I adhered everything to my background.

I really had fun with this one and since this will be my last Halloween project for now, it's good to go out with a BANG!
Have a great day everyone.

Funky Halloween Owl Tag

Hello there bloggies! I hope that your having a super fantastic fall day. For my project today, I really wanted to try a technique that I saw over at Frilly and Funky this was a Saturday step by step by Linda. She saw the technique over on the fabulous Wendy Vecchi's Blog... at any rate, I wanted to try this one because it's looks so fun and cool. I wanted to make a fun Halloween tag with my new movers and shaper Owl.

I am entering my tag into a few challenges:
1. Tag A Long - their challenge this week is Something Wicked This Way Comes... How cool!!
2. Our Creative Corner - Halloween/Tag/Surface Texture haha
3. 2 Creative Chicks - Their challenge this week is also Halloween, so awesome!!
Instead of using Wendy's clear embossing paste (I didn't have any on hand) I used Dreamweaver clear embossing paste instead.

I put some on my tag and let it dry for an hour, once it was pretty set I inked up my stamp and stamped into it with archival black ink and also versa mark (so the stamp won't stick in the paste.) Linda actually talked about using the versa mark so that it won't stick, it's a great idea.
I set it aside once again to dry some more and harden.
While the tag was drying I cut out a Ornate Frame (by Tim Holtz) and used several different embossing powders to give it a grungy/patina look.

I then took some distress dry glitter and used a technique by Tim Holtz in order to make a custom color. I mixed Alcohol inks in several colors until I got the color I wanted for my owl.
The Owl was cut out using Tim's movers and shapers mini owl.

Once the glitter was dry I covered my owl with glossy accents and then added the glitter.

Once my background was nice and dry, I ruffed up the edges and also added some Tattered Angels glamour paint with my finger.

I went over some of the background with stencil and archival inks.

I then added a black ornate frame to my background and added my embossed patina/grunge one over the back one using dimensionals.

For the owls eyes, I cut out some card stock and used glossy accents over it and then added some glitter on top of that. I wanted the eyes to be shiny.

I also added some leaves and a button to the bottom of my tag.

Check out the cool texture on this tag, I'm definitely adding this technique to my list of favorites.

I'm really loving the finished look of the tag and I'm so grateful for the tutorials that Linda and her designers share. I learn so much from them. Be sure to check them out over at the blog:

Thanks for stopping by.
