Stampotique Challenge 247 - Boo

Hello all and welcome back to another week and another fun challenge at Stampotique....

Before I get into the challenge I want to tell you some exciting news! I've been published! YAY! I'm so excited, this will be my first time in a magazine and I'm thrilled to pieces!

Stampotique Challenge 220 - Bright Colors

Welcome back to the blog today. I am so happy that you came by. It's Wednesday and that means another new challenge over at Stampotique's Challenge Blog

This week Carol Fox is our hostess and she is challenging us to "Bright Colors"

Here is what Carol says about this challenge:

"Bright eye popping colors to brighten up November"

For this challenge I am working in a tag book.....

Marjie Kemper came to the store where I work here in Colorado and she mentioned that she had an online class so I had bought the class awhile back from Marjie and I decided to make this tag book playing along with her class.

I began with lesson 1 and used the techniques I learned on the cover of my tag book

This is what I came up with and it was perfect for this week's Stampotique Challenge.

I just love the bright bold colors and how the torn paper and stenciling look in my background. So fun!!

Stampotique Challenge 216 - Tag

Boy am I behind this week or what? The challenge started on Wednesday but I've been super busy so I missed the deadline. Anyway, Coby is our hostess this week and her challenge to us is "Tag", here is what she says about this challenge:

So I worked on a simple tag this week.

Stampotique Challenge 213 - Milestone Celebrations

For this challenge, I decided to do a fun tag for a friend for her birthday. 
This tag is loosely based upon Tim's 12 Tags of 2015 for August

Scrap Journal Page

Hello all and welcome back to the blog. It's been awhile since I did some journaling just for me and not for something specific. I sat down at my craft table and opened my journal

with intentions to do a page but my mind went blank. 

I couldn't think of what I wanted the page to be about and I was looking around my table for inspiration and I had that "lightbulb" moment. LOL... has that ever happened to you?

I had so many papers and scraps and other doo-dads on my table and I thought, "why not make a page with only items that were currently on my craft table?"

I encourage you to do this, specially if your a crafter and don't clean up your table often enough haha! 

If you decide to do this please leave me link to your photo or blog post so I can see what you have done as well

While creating this page, it kind of took on a life of it's own. There are torn papers, pieces of leftover wash tape, stamps, stencils and the flower at the bottom of the page was a mask that I used on a Stampotique challenge a few weeks back. It has been stamped on several times with black ink

The butterfly was already stamped, colored and cut out and I didn't use it previously so it sat there for months on my desktop, same with the crow.

The quote on the tag I had printed that out a few months back and intended to use it on a project and then never did LOL...

I love the way my page came out, this was so much fun. I will have to do it again in a few months and see what I come up with.

I hope that you will try this at some point, it's really fun to challenge yourself to create something with only the leftovers on your desk. Have fun and thanks for stopping by.

Favorite Colors - Stampotique Challenge 171

Welcome back everyone, today there is a new challenge over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge Blog and our hostess this week is the super Nellie Van Leeuwen

She has chosen the theme, Use Your Favorite Colors

What a great theme! I am excited about this one!

For this challenge I chose to make a mixed media canvas

I used the Stampotique Stamps:

Paris Lamp Post, French Journal Page, Comfort Zone all by artist France Papillon

My favorite colors are those of Fall, I just love the browns, oranges, reds and yellows that come with the Fall season and so I used all of these colors on my burlap panel.

(Oh my goodness, I just realized there is a moth sitting on my canvas in this photo haha!!)

Here is a photo of the tissue tape around the edges

I used metal butterflies for each corner of my canvas

I created a lot of texture in this background with embossing pastes, fabrics and paint.

Loving Those Gelli Print Backgrounds

I had been messing around with my gelli print a few weeks ago and I save everything that comes out of using it. This tag was a wipe off tag that I used to clean off the plate after making some prints.

I used this background to make a tag with a Stampotique image and some sizzix dies

This one is going to a friend of mine, she has been talking about spring for quite some time now and isn't get any relief from winter yet, it keeps coming and going just like here where i live.

So for this tag I used my Stampotique stamp

Mela - By Daniel Torrente

Mela is a such cute stamp and I thought she would be perfect for this tag

I also used some Sizzix dies from years ago that I haven't gotten out in awhile. The flowers are from this die and I can't even recall where I got it

I added a little wash tape and drew the stems for the flowers

It's a simple tag but it's always so fun to work with my gelli prints, they are so simple to create on top of

The Twelve Tags of 2013 - November

Hello everyone, today I wanted to share with you my project for this month's tag. As many of you know Tim Holtz is doing his 12 tags of 2013 again this year and he does one a month. We are now into the 11th tag for November. 

I am also putting together a 7 gypsies tray, one ATC sized project for each month of the tags. Tim's tags always always so much fun to do and he always gives us a fun technique.

My tray is almost finished, only one more slot to fill. I cannot wait to finish it and hang it in the house. So many fun techniques and projects to see and look at here.

Altered Playing Card Steampunk Tag

Live The Life You've Imagined!

This is one of my favorite sayings and it's on a few Tim Holtz Stamps, I decided this was the saying that I wanted to go with for this tag.

For the project today, I entering the following challenges:

SanDee & Amelia's Steampunk Challenge - The challenge over there is "Altered Playing Cards", this is my first time playing with them and I am really having fun with it. I will have to play more often with SanDee and Amelia

Fun With ATCs - Texture is the theme there and I created texture with the embossed metal and my playing card is ATC size.

To start with this tag I sanded a little bit onto my playing card to give it some tooth and prep it for the Distress Paint.

I then went over the entire card with some peeled paint - Distress Paint, I wanted to card to show through and it worked perfectly. I also went around the edges of the card with black soot distress ink.

For my tag I dabbed several colors of Distress paint onto my craft sheet and spritzed with water and then ran my tag through.

I also stamped with Archival ink and a Tim Holtz word stamp

I used more paint dabbers in several colors for my cardboard pieces that I used. These turned out so cool, I just love how the colors run together.

I used metal tape and several alcohol inks and a Tim Holtz clockworks embossing folder to create my piece of metal. I also went over the top after it had been embossed with Black Soot distress ink.

In order to create a pocket (so that the playing card can be pulled out) I only tore off the paper backing of the tape in the areas I wanted to stick to the tag and left the rest of the brown paper.

I used a piece of card stock with writing on it and colored it with distress inks. I stamped my sentiment with Archival black ink. The sentiment is from the Tim Holtz stamp set called "Odds and Ends"

Lastly I used apiece of Tim's tape measure ribbon and stained it with a combo of distress paints and alcohol inks to colorize it. I'm sorry, forgot to photograph that part.

I added some other elements and lots of Tim's Findings

She's Beautiful - Tag Project

Today I am sharing with you a few tags that I made using my gelli plate background. I am in a tag swap in one of my yahoo groups, ATC_FUN and it's a open theme. 
I purchased the Penny Black stamp the other day and I must say I could not wait to use it, It's so beautiful. I decided that this was the project that I would like to use it on.

I apologize, I did not take a picture of the background before I started but you can kind of see it here. The background was sort of this hodge podge of random blues and red and some white. 

I decided that I wanted to create a special spot for the stamp because if I had stamped it onto the background as-is it would have gotten lost in the background. I just bought Dyan Reaveley's new After Midnight" spray and it's so bold and beautiful and this is what I used. I sprayed each tag using a circle template and I just love how the spray is translucent so you can still see parts of that background through it.

I then stamped the Penny Black stamp and embossed it using Ranger's black embossing powder. I used Tim Holtz distress ink in black soot for the edges, added some small butterflies from my Stampin Up Sizzix cutting/embossing folder. 

I added some fun fluffy ribbon to top it all off and stamped the word "Dream" on red card stock. Lastly, I added some really tiny Swarovski crystals to her hair. I think it all comes together really well.

I still cannot get over how well the background comes through the Dyan Reaveley spray, so cool!!

I am entereing this tag into the Artful Times challenge which is "Colour Technique"

Also In the Frilly and Funky - "Layer It On and Share a Word" challenge. There are many layers here of paint, ink, sprays and embossing.
