SDC248 - All Creatures Great and Small

Hello everyone and thanks for coming back to the blog today. We have a fun new challenge over at Stampotique's Designer Blog and our hostess this week is Corrie Herriman and she has challenged us to "All Creatures Great and Small"

Here is what Corrie says about this fun challenge:

"Wild and woolly or friendly and domesticated we love them all..make sure to include an animal or two on your creation this week."

I decided to do an art journal page for this challenge... it turned out more masculine than I thought it would but I tried a technique on my background

I painted my background black first and then added paint and embossing paste on top of that, then I used an embossing folder over it all. Pretty cool result....

Stampotique Challenge 241 - TV Show or Movie Inspired

This week over at Stampotique we have a super fun challenge for you. Kristen is our hostess and she is challenging us to  "TV Show or Movie Inspired"

"This week I want to see what you can create that is inspired by one of your favorite TV shows of Movies."

I have a bunch of TV shows and Movies that I love so this one was tough for me. I went with an oldie but goodie movie and I decided to do a journal page.

Stampotique Challenge 239 Nature

Stampotique Challenge 233 - Use Squares in any form

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog. It's Wednesday again and you know what that means. Another fun challenge over at Stampotique.

This week Corrie is our host and she is challenging us to "Use squares in any form"

Here is what Corrie says about this fun challenge:

"I am very fond of circles in my work, so I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and use squares for a change and I would like you to join me. Have fun this week!"

I too love using circles and I don't use squares often so this was a challenge for me

I worked in my art journal again this week

My background was painted with Dina Wakley paints and a sponge

I also used some washi tape that I just bought, it's one of my favorites of all my washi tapes now. haha! I figured it was perfect for this challenge because it's all different colors of squares

Just Playing with Texture

Hello all and welcome to the blog today. We are getting a snow storm so I have a few days to sit in my craft room and just play. Loving the time I have.

I wanted to work on a journal page that was just sitting around my craft area for awhile. I had used it as a wipe off page for stencils and texture paste awhile back

The page was entirely white when I began 

I added some shades of blue paint first

Once the paint is applied you can see all the texture created from the paste that was already there

I used Dina Wakely paint by simply adding a tad to my craft sheet and using my finger to apply it to my background

Next I added some brown paper that I roughed up the edges and glue that down

I added another stencil and used two shades of DecoArt paint to create the doily 

I also added more texture on top of my brown paper with more stencils and texture paste

I then did some stamping here and there with a Stampotique Stamp by France Papillon

You can see in this close up photo all that texture

I glued a piece of burlap onto my background and 

lastly I added black texture paste through a few stencils to create my main images

I used a Tim Holtz stamp for my quote

Stampotique Challenge 222 - At The Movies

Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog this fine Wednesday. We, here in Colorado had a snow storm yesterday it was crazy. Not like your normal storm, lots of wind with snow mix.

Here is a photo of my front yard early in the storm, it's much worse now.

I'm taking advantage of the weather and using it to create. Making a few things for my Etsy shop and for Stampotique's design team.

This week over at Stampotique's Designer's Challenge Blog our hostess is Corrie Herriman

I decided to create in my art journal this week and I had previously created this really cool background and decided to use this to make something

I just love The Hunger Games movies and in the second movie, Catching Fire, there was this really cool, kind of eerie song that Katniss sang and I just love it, so I used a few of the lyrics on my page along with France Papillon's Majestic Tree

I just love how this page came out and I hope you will join us over at Stampotique's Designer's Challenge Blog this week for this fun challenge. Thanks for coming by the blog.

Art Journaling in My Tag Book

Hello all and welcome back to the blog, thanks again for stopping by. Today I am sharing page #2 in my tag book that I am making while following along in Marjie Kemper's online class with Craftsy. I posted the first page HERE if you missed it. 

This page is a two section spread and following along with Marjie's class I created this....

The quote on this page is something that my friend Terri and I say all the time, it's become one of my favorite quotes. haha!

I can't tell you how much fun I had creating this page, Marjie is so awesome at explaining what to do and easy to follow along.

Stampotique Challenge 218 - Blue and Brown

Hello everyone, so glad you could make it to the blog today. Thank you for coming by and spending this time with me. 

It's Wednesday and that means it's time for another challenge over at Stampotique.... thanks to all who joined us last week, it was fun hosting.

This week Gez Butterworth is our hostess and she is challenging us to use Blue and Brown in our creations. Here is what Gez says about this challenge

"Blue and Brown is one of my favorite color combos, I hope you have fun with it too"

I decided to decorate the outside of my smaller Dylusions journal. I use this journal quite a bit so I thought it was time to decorate the outside and what better way than to work with the cardboard cover as part of my background?

for this cover, I used a combo of acrylic paints, stencils, 

washi tape and die cutes. I also used Stampotique stamps:

Scrap Journal Page

Hello all and welcome back to the blog. It's been awhile since I did some journaling just for me and not for something specific. I sat down at my craft table and opened my journal

with intentions to do a page but my mind went blank. 

I couldn't think of what I wanted the page to be about and I was looking around my table for inspiration and I had that "lightbulb" moment. LOL... has that ever happened to you?

I had so many papers and scraps and other doo-dads on my table and I thought, "why not make a page with only items that were currently on my craft table?"

I encourage you to do this, specially if your a crafter and don't clean up your table often enough haha! 

If you decide to do this please leave me link to your photo or blog post so I can see what you have done as well

While creating this page, it kind of took on a life of it's own. There are torn papers, pieces of leftover wash tape, stamps, stencils and the flower at the bottom of the page was a mask that I used on a Stampotique challenge a few weeks back. It has been stamped on several times with black ink

The butterfly was already stamped, colored and cut out and I didn't use it previously so it sat there for months on my desktop, same with the crow.

The quote on the tag I had printed that out a few months back and intended to use it on a project and then never did LOL...

I love the way my page came out, this was so much fun. I will have to do it again in a few months and see what I come up with.

I hope that you will try this at some point, it's really fun to challenge yourself to create something with only the leftovers on your desk. Have fun and thanks for stopping by.

My background was a "wipe off" page for some other projects I did and I added a bit of silver shimmer to it with glitter glue

Roc Nicholas Design Team - June is Kindness

Welcome to the blog everyone, today is the 7th of June and that means it's my turn to post for the Roc Nicholas Design team. I always love using Roc' stamps for my creations so this month I chose the stamps:

Screaming Bunny

and 

Scalloped Lace Border

These are two of my favorite stamps by Roc. I decided to do a journal page this month and I want to

reflect on kindness and the things that you say to others.

Sometimes we tend to blurt out our words before we even think about how someone might react to them. 

So with that in mind, here is my journal page

The background of this page was a "wipe off" page for my Dylusions paints and I just went with it. I love the colors and I think that Bunny looks fabulous against the circles in the background.

I wrote the words that I wanted coming out of Bunny's mouth, Kindness

Love and 

Respect

This should be a rule of thumb I think.

Stampotique DC198 Favorite Stamp

Hello all and welcome back to the blog. This week over at the 

Stampotique Designer's Challenge Blog we have a new challenge and our hostess is Gez. She has asked us to use our favorite Stampotique Stamp this week. Here is what Gez says about this challenge.

"We've ALL got one! What's yours! We would love to see your favourite Stampotique images (if you can pick one!) on your creations this week. Which stamp makes your heart skip a beat!"

Ok Gez, it is going to be so tough to chose just one stamp. I love ALL of my Stampotique Stamps so this is going to be a real challenge.

I basically picked five or six that I really like and did eenie meenie miney mo!! HAHA!

So this week I am using one of the stamps I got when I first joined the Stampotique design team andI have always loved it.

Carol's Flower Large - By Janet Klein

I have used this flower quite a bit but I wanted to do something a little different with it this week and so I worked in my art journal.

I stamped my flower all over the colored background of this page

I then colored all the petals and centers of the flower (this covered up most of the stamping) 

I then re-stamped all the flowers again 

I think this page came out really beautiful. 

I liked this page so much that I created two postcards with the same idea in mind

A Calendar Cover

Welcome to the blog, today I wanted to show you a calendar cover page that I sort of created. What I mean is, my friend Terri made this wonderful calendar for me and she decorated the cover a bit but she left it for me to add to. 

So finally yesterday I worked on it

This is the back cover - Terri decorated it for me

She decorate and drew on the month's beginning for each month, it's just beautiful

She is so talented and I just cherish this calendar

This is one of the inside pages, she drew little things for each holiday throughout the year, I love it!! Excuse my appointments haha

I sadly did not take a photo of the cover before I added to it but that's ok. 

Terri did the background and what's funny is, she had sent me some drawings of flowers and her artwork that were blank (without color) and I colored these flowers and butterfly and cut them out. I then wanted the flowers to stand out so I added some black acrylic paint to the background behind the flowers. I printed the sentiment off and added it, I then sealed the entire cover with a glossy sealer.

To be honest, Terri did most of this and I just colored her drawings haha! It's perfect and I love it

Stampotique Challenge 193 - Polka Dots

Welcome back to the blog, this week on the Stampotique Designers Challenge Blog our hostess is Samantha Read and she has chosen the theme "Polka Dots"

Here is what Sam says about this challenge:

"I included polka dots in a previous challenge and everyone who took part seemed to have such fun, I thought we could revisit them :) Have fun!"

Well, I just love circles and polka dots and such so this challenge was fun for me. 

Of course I had to do a journal page because I just love working in my journals. 

This page was a clean up page.  I used it to clean up leftover paint on my craft mat. 

I think the bright colors in the background are so beautiful even though they were just splotched on the page

This page kind of took on a life of it's own but I really like that there is so much to see and look at and there are polka dots everywhere

A Journal Spread With Dylusions Paint

Welcome back to the blog today and thanks for stopping by.

Today I am using the new Dylusions Paints to create a journal spread. I will be working in my Dylusions Large journal for this.

I started this page by glueing some leftover printed paper here and there

I then chose a few of the Dylusions colors for my background
These paints are very fluid and go on somewhat transparent, so you should be able to see the paper through the paint once it's applied

I used lots of Dyluions stencils and paint, you can still see the paper on the edges even though I used several of the Dylusions colors over it
I just love how the background turned out here, Dyan's colors are so vibrant and beautiful

I used the black paint and a few stencils to create my girl

Relaxing Journal Page

Welcome back to the blog today, I have been messing around in my craft room today and wanted to do something "just because"... It's always fun to create with one thing in mind, "relaxation"

For this page I used the new Dyan Reaveley Paint 

I first applied a coat of Gesso to my page so that the paint wouldn't seep through and also prep my page for the paint

I then added a bit of torn paper across the top

I used a combination of paint colors to create my circles

I simply applied them with my fingers, on top of the color I added a bit of white in the center of each circle and blended

for the black, I used oil pastels and smeared them with my finger

The girl on my page is from Stampotique called 

Jasmin by artist Jo Capper-Sandon

I colored her with Copic Markers

Lastly

I printed out my sentiment and adhered 

I am in love with this page, I love the colors and the easy relaxing vibe to it
